When i minimized my firefox windows they dont come back and im on a different program with firefox underneath it and tryt to return to my webpage it will not come back. the only way yo get them back has been to right click and restore but it only lets me right click once every 100 times and to alt tab but thats not as easy as simply just opening the tab as i have for the last 3 years. I have:

  • cleared myt cookies and ache
  • run the dignosic tools of troubleshoot mode
  • tried every solution from the LAST time people reported this same issue in 2015
  • reset my firefox (which worked but only for a day)

the only difference im noticing is that firefox updated but to bring back a 10 year old bug? Im on windows 10 using Firefox 116.0.2 (64-bit)

Hey there! I totally get how frustrating that can be. It seems like the minimized Firefox windows aren't coming back when you try to restore them. I'd suggest trying a couple of things. First, let's make sure you're not running into any compatibility issues with Windows 10. You can try running Firefox in compatibility mode for Windows 8 or 7 and see if that helps. Additionally, check if you have any extensions or add-ons that might be causing this behavior. Sometimes disabling or removing problematic extensions can do the trick. Oh, and make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date – that can have an impact too. Give these a shot and see if it improves things. If the issue persists, let's dive deeper.

updating my graphics card solved this issue. Strange that it was just Firefox effected though. Thank you!

Did you make any changes during that day? Try refreshing your profile and see if it still happens without making any changes.

Don't do this, disable compatibility mode for firefox.exe if you have previously enabled it.

Normally, when you hover your mouse over the Firefox button on the Windows Taskbar, Windows will show a thumbnail image (or display the title) for each of your open Firefox window, and clicking any one of those should activate that window and bring it to the front of whatever display it was on before it was minimized. That isn't working?

Is that where you need to right-click and Restore instead of simply left-clicking?

Any difference if you right-click and Maximize? (That can work around the problem where the window is positioned or sized in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to find.)
