This is happening every few minutes now. It started right after the 97.0.0 update. The 97.0.1 update doesn't seemed to have helped.

I don't use any browser extensions.

I never saw this issue before, and I have been using Firefox as a primary browser for many years. I'm on a MacBook Air, M1.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Thank you for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

Note that if only the tab crashes then Firefox might not submit a crash report.

Any relevant-looking information in the Browser Console ?

The last crash listed in "about:crashes" is from Sept 2021. The tab crash has been happening multiple times an hour.

It may be solved (withhold judgement for a day). I've just updated to the latest version of Mac OS Monterey (12.2.1). Firefox has not had a tab crash since then, and it has been 3 hours.

I'm having this exact problem. Firefox is crashing multiple times an hour, starting today. Still crashes even in troubleshooting mode, and there are no crash reports, since it's just individual tabs. I updated to 103.0 (64-bit), and it's still happening (not sure what I was on before the update, but I update Firefox every week or so). I'm on Mac OS Monterey 12.4.

When I try `open firefox-bin` from the command line I get this the same tab crash, and this is what terminal shows me: Last login: Thu Jul 21 09:50:14 on ttys000 /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin ; exit; ghayden@LIB-ANW0002 ~ % /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin ; exit; 2022-07-26 14:41:22.605 plugin-container[27889:11021511] nil host used in call to allowsSpecificHTTPSCertificateForHost 2022-07-26 14:41:22.605 plugin-container[27889:11021511] nil host used in call to allowsAnyHTTPSCertificateForHost: 2022-07-26 14:41:22.615 plugin-container[27889:11021511] nil host used in call to allowsSpecificHTTPSCertificateForHost 2022-07-26 14:41:22.615 plugin-container[27889:11021511] nil host used in call to allowsAnyHTTPSCertificateForHost: 2022-07-26 14:41:22.615 plugin-container[27889:11021507] nil host used in call to allowsSpecificHTTPSCertificateForHost 2022-07-26 14:41:22.615 plugin-container[27889:11021507] nil host used in call to allowsAnyHTTPSCertificateForHost: [Parent 27887, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: pipe error: No buffer space available: file /builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc:705 [Child 27890, IPC I/O Child] WARNING: pipe error: No buffer space available: file /builds/worker/checkouts/gecko/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc:705 Exiting due to channel error. Alternatively, when I look in the browser console at a crashed tab, I see the following: NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED: Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getCharPref] PersonalityProvider.jsm:63 Error: Can't find profile directory. Following up: when the tab crashes in troubleshooting mode, the list of errors in the browser console is smaller, but it still crashed immediately on startup:
