I've had this browser installed on my computer for about a year. It is worth noting that, all of the browsers worked perfectly fine before. However, after roughly 3 weeks of regularly seeing that all of the browsers on my Windows 10 PC (Opera, Firefox, Tor) except Chrome browser don't seem to start up. When I run Firefox.exe, it opens for a fraction of a second, displays a text box, and then closes. I tried recording my screen to understand what's written more clearly, and it said "Profile Missing". But not the familiar profile missing error. this one closes immediately, and with no text, only the title. It is also important to mention that all of the files associated with the browser also won't open, except helper.exe. For example, this command "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P to open the profile manager will show the same error.

Things I tried:

1. Refreshing the browser. 2. Uninstalling and reinstalling. 3. Removing the appdata profiles folder. 4. Installing other versions of Firefox. 5. Scanning for malware with 3 different Antivirus programs.

And so far non of these methods worked. I would like to get an answer on how to fix this. Thanks.

There are several possibilities for this, so please be patient.

This is the latest issue. I don't know if this is your problem.

Could this be relevant? A couple of other users identified Webroot (security software) as blocking 64-bit Firefox 97 -- released today -- from running properly: If you are still running an earlier release of Firefox, this would not be your issue.

After consulting with WebRoot, they advised this was a known issue. The fix was to remove and reinstalled the WebRoot application.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

As a test, disable your protection programs.

Hi, I think the problem is not that the Firefox browser isn't loading pages, The problem is that the program doesn't open when I left click the .exe

Please check my ideas (above) since the browser not opening can be caused by the above.
