Hi, ALL CAPS is considered shouting. Please don't shout at the support forum volunteers.

Spring thread for reference: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1332639

Bing, eBay, Google, Wikipedia and Amazon are built-in search engine extensions. They are not re-downloaded, they are part of the program files when you install Firefox. You can use the Shortcuts box on the Settings page to hide them (uncheck them in the left column) so they don't appear on drop-downs if you don't plan to use them. See: Change your default search settings in Firefox ("Remove or add search engines" section).

Note: some users who removed ALL of the built-in search engines reported that they were all re-added at the next update.

Note: If you use CCleaner or another program to "remove" or "delete" built-in search extensions, they are only removed from a settings file temporarily, they are not removed from Firefox's program files.

If the problem is that you have sponsored search shortcuts on your Firefox Home / new tab page, also shown in the address bar drop-down, use the controls on the Firefox Home / new tab page to remove them

I do NOT blame Halme for his use of all caps. Several people have complained and NOBODY is listening. I specifically switched to FF so I don't have to deal with intrusive sites. And I do NOT need extra programs running that I do NOT use.

It looks like these sites/add-on's get compensated because they track users. NOT what I wanted from FF, I wanted PRIVACY.

See my comments posted today: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1350078

Didn't FF promise to be better than Google Chrome privacy-wise? Not if you're forcing us with unnecessary add-on's that are also tracking us...

Hi jj, I replied to your question here:

As far as I can tell, the built-in search engine extensions do not track anyone. Of course, if you actually go to website, they can track you, but having extra search options that you do not use does not leak data to those sites.
