"Simplify page" function - go back to the previous version of Firefox

more options

The "Simplify page" function of the new Firefox version has zero rendering : letters too large, no text centering, no possibility to delete images, etc. So I would like to go back to the previous version of Firefox. Thank you for explaining to me precisely and step by step, as to a particularly bad person who does not understand anything at all. Why, when things are going well, does it take someone to change them, especially without asking users !!!

If you install a prior version of the program, it would upgrade itself sooner or later.

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox v64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md or https://winaero.com/blog/disable-updates-firefox-63-above/

You can use a policies.json file in the distribution folder in the Firefox installation folder instead as also listed in the article, so no need to use GPO keys in the Windows Registry. • https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customizing-firefox-using-policiesjson

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

Thanks for the reply, but I didn't understand anything at all. Do you think the 1st person coming might also understand. I was not born with computers. It would be fair if the IT people who changed the "simplify page" feature in the new version of Firefox revert to the previous one. It would be so much easier. Who asked them to change? Are there really people who are happy with this change? How to reach them directly rather than going through a community?

Internet keeps changing, so does everything in live. You dont have to be a IT or AI to understand that.

Hi, since Firefox 84 or so, we have the new preview that doesn't have a Simplify page checkbox. Are you referring to the Reader View? Or did you switch back to the old print experience?

The Reader view has a little toolbar with an "Aa" button to adjust font size, width of the center column, and the tightness of line spacing. This can help make better use of space on screen and in printouts.

The two screenshots show these features:

If you can't make that work for you, there is a preference to switch back to the old style (we don't know how long we'll have this):

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste tab_mo and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the print.tab_modal.enabled preference to switch between the new experience (true) and the classic experience (false)

(4) If there is another preference named app.normandy.startupRolloutPrefs.print.tab_modal.enabled you can double-click that one to switch it to false as well. If you do not have that one, no need to create it.

Since you are setting to false, it will look roughly like this:

Reply : Indeed, I am neither an IT nor an IA (you still had to know what it was). But behind the changes, there are computer scientists, at least, a priori, unless it is the machines that already govern.

In fact, I misspoke and I don't know what "Reader View" is. All I know is that the new "print" function no longer allows "simplify the page" as before, and that's a shame. Now, when I want to print a press article, I get: letters that are too large (I change the font up to 30% to make it drinkable), the line spaces are too far apart, the text is too centered and n is more full screen, the images are not deleted, etc. I have tried downgrading to an older version of Firefox, but I don't know which version is the right one and anyway, I'm not good enough to do it and I'm afraid to do some nonsense wanting to insist too much. In short, I resigned myself to doing a copy and paste on a Word document to allow me to make the changes. Who could pass the information back to Firefox computer scientists? It would be so much easier. I'm sick of the FAQs. Why don't site managers respond directly to users. I'm overwhelmed ... Maybe it's my age ??? Nevertheless, I thank very much the people who try to help me.

Hi mf-herbin, in my earlier reply, I gave the steps to roll back to the old print experience. Here's a link, it's in the lower part of the post below the screenshots of the reader view:

How are you increasing the font?

If you are using page zoom, that should not affect printouts. To zoom in, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the + key, or on Mac, hold down Command and tap the + key.
