Right click on a tab and click "Select All Tabs" and then the same step to bookmark them. Do you have a second device with Firefox?

I have done that in the past and it kills FF when I re-open the 800+ tabs. Currently I have 876 tabs open with 28 active and the rest suspended. I want to refresh and have my current tabs displayed but suspended.

I'm curious about the spec of the pc your are on with 800+ tabs....Wow, I don't want to look!  ;-))

Hi Sundancer268, I don't think anyone can guarantee that the Refresh will go perfectly (preserving your important data, flushing only custom settings and add-ons). After the Refresh, you session history files should already be moved to your Windows desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. But if you are nervous, you can back up your current session history files yourself before running the Refresh:

(1) To open your profile folder...

You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
• type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, click the "Open Folder" button. Firefox will launch File Explorer.

(2) Copy out session history files

In your profile folder, double-click into the sessionstore-backups folder. Save all files here to a safe location such as your Documents folder.

Of course, before running a Refresh, you also could try a couple other measures to see whether they help:

(1) Clear the Web Cache

(2) Disable unimportant extensions

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
• type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. On the right side, find the "Manage Your Extensions" heading.

If there is at least one extension before the next heading -- "Recommended Extensions" -- please continue:

Then cast a critical eye over the list below that heading. Any extensions you don't use at least daily, you can disable for now by clicking the slider switch.

After the Refresh, Firefox should already have those files in your new profile. You may need to restore your session manually from the menu. Either:

• "3-bar" menu button > Restore Previous Session
• (menu bar) History > Restore Previous Session

And also, make sure to turn on automatic restoration on the Options page.

If Firefox doesn't have the session, you would locate the new sessionstore-backups folder and, while Firefox is closed, replace the new files with copies of the old ones.

You may also need to remove a sessionstore.jsonlz4 file from the profile folder (main level, not in the sessionstore-backups folder) if Firefox creates that file at shutdown. (You can rename it to sessionstoreOLD.jsonlz4)

You can make a backup copy of sessionstore.jsonlz4 in the profile folder with Firefox closed.

If you need to restore that session then simply place the file back in the new profile folder while Firefox is closed. If Firefox isn't set to restore the session automatically then check the History menu.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
