Downloaded pictures to sdcard or gallery?

This latest update has it where I cannot save downloads where I want them. Like pictures. They USED to appear in Gallery. I used to be able to find them with a file manager but I can't now. I can still open them with gallery but it doesn't allow me to save them in an album. I can put them in a shared gallery folder, but I do NOT want that. I don't want them in cloud storage either. Help!
