Earlier this year (Feb/April) Firefox slowed to 25% of the speed of other browsers I use (Edge and Chrome). With or without antivirus on, all updates completed, even with protective restrictions completely turned off, I can only achieve 250mb down on my 1gb service. If I switch to my other browsers I'm immediately in the 900+mb range. I've deleted all cache, temp files, and followed some of the optimization guidance in the forum, but it simply isn't working.

I stopped using Firefox a few months ago, but have always preferred it. However I will need to abandon it completely if this problem is unsolvable. After all the effort, it is as though Microsoft itself has done something in Windows to target this browser.

Any help out there?

Were you using a download manager?

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
