Setting domains on multi-account containers, for domains that redirect immediately
This applies elsewhere, I imagine, but my current problem is "apple.news" links.
I get sent these links but don't use them. (No interest in being under surveillance by Apple.)
I tried to set them up in Multi-account containers, so that I can send them to a ghetto, but at least try to use them. I found no way to do this. (I also found the interface clunky and unintuitive.) (I did find how you set a domain there but redirection is long past by the time you can do that.)
(I'm happy setting the Windows registry, designing configuration systems for programs, and the like so making setting is not a terror for me, please don't answer as if I'm a dufus in that regard. Thank you.)
Where do I make a configuration setting to force these containers to do what I want?

Assigning a redirecting domain to a specific multi-account container (MAC) is a little trickier than assigning a regular domain because the redirect is often fast, just as you described.
The easiest way that I can think for you to do it (without having to mess about in advanced technical menus) is to disconnect your device from the internet. Then you can type the domain (in this case apple.news) into the address bar. Naturally, the website won't load without the internet. However, you should be able to assign that domain to a MAC because the redirection doesn't happen when you have no internet connection.
Assuming you have the MAC button on your toolbar, you can click on it and select the Always Open This Site In... option to assign it automatically to a specific MAC. When you've done that, the website should be moved automatically to the selected container before the redirection happens.

The first few times I tried it it saved my default web site. I'm not sure what I did different but it eventually saved the apple.news domain where I wanted it. (If somebody else wants this, it does work even if you need to try a few times.)
The first time I used it after that it required confirmation that the setting was correct.
