Firefox hangs up on multiple websites. Chrome and Edge have no problem. How can I start diagnosing this? -Thanks, Gary

Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I thought I had a handle on computers - been using them for decades. But I struggled just to sign in here and reply to you. Is private messaging an option that may be easier for me?

The hanging symptom is on my Android device, not on my desktop. I'm sorry to have misled you. Most web sites do their job reasonably fast. Big offenders are CNN and FOXNEWS. Maybe they do something that most sites don't. I noticed that when the hang occurs, an exclamation point displays at the left end of the URL. Some non secure content a factor?

I'd provide my firefox version, but it's not in the Help info and I can't find it elsewhere.

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

I had an absolutely terrible time finding my way back to your reply to my original post about Firefox hanging. That's why it has taken me so long to reply to you. I wish it were more straightforward. I couldn't decide whether to go to a forum somewhere and try to find the thread or go to the community and try.

Anyway, instead of those options I tried responding to the email. I think I'm in the right place now. I decided to just clear all private data. No change. Still hangs - sometimes it never comes back to life at all. The Disable Hardware Acceleration - I couldn't find it. I think it's supposed to disable the use of a graphics card. Androids don't use a graphics card do they? What can I do?

I called for more help.
