Are you getting a specific error message or something when you try to play videos on Facebook?

Facebook (and most other websites) don't use plugins like Adobe Flash Player anymore (and haven't for quite a while). It's much more secure and causes less performance issues if they play it using Firefox's builtin HTML5 support. That uses video support offered by Windows.

The issue is that Windows XP never came with the Windows Media Feature Pack, which has all of the tools required for Firefox to play videos using HTML5. Since Firefox 52 hasn't been supported for some time and neither has Windows XP, it's extremely unlikely that it will updated to support video playback on older computers.

However, it seems that you may be able to get HTML5 videos to play in Windows XP on Firefox 52, but it's by no means easy or guaranteed. You're probably better off to upgrade your system, which comes with the added benefit of not being vulnerable to the many unfixed documented security issues on Windows XP.

If you are interested in trying to fix the video playback on your computer (at your own risk, of course), James provided a link to Enable MP4 (H.264 + AAC) HTML5 video in Firefox on Windows XP without Flash in this thread to someone with similar issues.
