wysiwyg – when attempting to print online WSJ article, text at right margin gets cut off, despite what appears on the screen. In Chrome, the article prints correctly, except for the fact that (unlike in Firefox) if there is an ad block in the middle of the article Chrome will print a white space (say, about 3 inches in height) where ad appeared. Suggested fix – to delete print_printer – did not work. Second suggested fix – to edit prefs.js file did not work. My HP laptop’s resolution is 3840 x 2160 which may be part of the problem. Nevertheless in Chrome text prints correctly.

Hi cnastro, that's strange. It's like you're viewing the article text through a window, so you can't see the entire view of the outside because the right side is blocked by the wall.
If I had a WSJ subscription, I could poke around in the page, but I don't, so I don't have any specific suggestions. Here are two general things you could try:
(1) If the Simplify Page option is available in Print Preview, try that. This is the print equivalent of the Reader View button in the address bar while looking at a page.
(2) You could try my add-on, just using the first button (Allow Page Breaks). This injects some style rules into the page that might help with hidden regions. But as noted before, I can't test whether it would help.

Thanks for the speedy reply. The Simplify Page option did result in the text printing correctly, but this particular article has a graphic and, of course, in simplifying the page, the graphic was eliminated. The graphic is the subject of the article so my hope is that I can print both graphic and article.
Before I download your add-on, do you think it would aid in printing both graphic and text correctly?
BTW with my prior laptop -- which had a lower resolution -- I never had a problem printing this sort of article.

I have no idea. I wasn't expressly trying to correct that problem.

You can simulate a lower resolution by using a narrow window or a higher zoom level. I don't know whether that would affect printing, or only the on-screen display.
Thanks for trying to resolve my issue. I downloaded your add-on, but I could not correct the wysiwyg problem. Google does an ok job with printing the article -- except for the blank ad block spaces. There's no wysiwyg problem at all with Google and I am able to manipulate the Google printing options sufficiently to get a decent print out.
