FitBit: Clicking Fitbit Settings icon gives "internal server problem." Ok with other browsers...

more options

When I log into FitBit and have the dashboard displayed, I click on the gear and then "Settings." Immediately I get "We're experiencing an internal server problem. Please try again later or contact support." Not so. Works with IE. I use the "Settings" option to download my FitBit data once a month. Last month it worked fine. I installed the latest Firefox version this month and am on version 72.0.1 64 bit. I am still running Windows 7 but have had no issues related to that so far. Seems odd that this problem occurred just after the latest release was installed. I have no other issues with Firefox. No other changes have been made to Firefox other than the upgrade to 72.0.1. I looked through the forums but could find no information on this problem nor were there any similar problems. I also went through the FAQ's and found no solutions that made any sense in relationship to the problem I am experiencing. Am out of ideas now. Thanks for any help that is offered...

Found it!

It has been so long since I had to troubleshoot a Firefox problem other than getting the tabs back on the bottom, that I had forgotten about Safe Mode. Thanks for getting me on the right track.

As it turns out AdBlock was the culprit. Either Fitbit changed its' code enough so that AdBlock thought it was an ad or AdBlock updated itself and the update interpreted the Settings tab results in Fitbit as an advertisement. Obviously there was no clue as to the real problem in the error message.

The solution I implemented was to "Whitelist" the Fitbit site in AdBlock. No more problems since. We can call this one fixed.

Thanks again for putting me on the right track to efficiently find the problem.

Have a great day...

Hi lefty2c9, Try starting Firefox in it's Safe Mode to see if the problem persists.

Safe Mode will temporarily disable your extensions and themes, turn off hardware acceleration and reset toolbar and button customizations. When you leave Safe Mode and start Firefox up normally, your extensions, themes, and settings will return to the state they were in before you entered Safe Mode.

With Firefox open: select Menu select Help select Restart With Add-ons Disabled on the dialog select Restart on the next dialog select Start In Safe Mode (Do Not select Refresh)

With Firefox closed: press and hold the Shift (in Mac: Option) key launch Firefox on the dialog select Start In Safe Mode (Do Not select Refresh) ______________________________________________________

To quit Safe Mode: select Menu select Help select Restart With Add-ons Enabled

Or, Exit Firefox.

I'm glad to hear that you found it! My adblocker has a malware domains filter which probably would have produced similar results (???).

Anyway, I'm glad I could help.
