Doing it manually before closing Firefox is total waste of time, we need a way to clear the Cache2 folder only upon exit leaving history and cookies unmolested. Can we get a Firefox Programmer to fix this issue for us?

You can use "Clear history when Firefox closes".

  • clear the Cache
  • do not clear the Browsing History unless you do not want to keep history
  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including ('remember me') cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep

By the way "browser.cache.disk.capacity" is set to absolute Zero, but it is a load of rubbish, Cache2 keeps increasing exponentially, so this work around is totally and utterly useless. Forget all about CCleaner, it can't keep up and gets stuck for a good 20 minuted deleting every entry one by one instead of deleting the whole folder in one piece as it is instructed. The best option so far, is to have a shortcut to my desktop to access the parent of Cache2 folder and sending the whole folder to the recycle bin in one piece. BUT it would be a nicer option if a Firefox programmer can give us the option to delete every entry in this folder upon exit, with 1GB of Internet speed this folder is not needed for mercy sake. P.S. "browser.cache.disk.capacity" will always reset to 1044480 no matter what you do. So it is a totally useless option.

Something is not holy with all these long entries and explanations: YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT??? CLEAR HISTORY???? HOLY MOLLY! No Professor, that is what I am trying to avoid altogether, please re-read my question, HISTORY AND COOKIES MUST NOT BE DELETED, NOT FOOLED WITH, MOLESTED or even Tickled, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Let's take your explanation from the start: The cache2 is located in this folder; C:\Users\Magdy\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\w50d10eq.default-release Within the cache2 folder there are two more folders and quite often two more files. See attached images My main concern is to delete the folder called Entries inside Cache2 or delete the folder Cache2 altogether, that is it and no more. I am attaching an image of how my History is configured, you may take it from here, but you can't change my configuration. Like I said, we need a programmer with Mozilla to allow us to delete all the junks but keeping History, Forms and Cookies.

Just to be fair to you, I tried your way, it does delete all the junks and my history is gone too (really too bad). Worse, it created a whole new problem, now I have to sign in every site including this Mozilla site, YouTube, ebay, Walmart, my bank, credit cards sites, you name it, too many, so I am back to square one deleting the folder Entries in Cache2 manually, far less problematic. Now can we please get a programmer to fix this mess? Totally inexcusable.

I am truly sorry, but you are way off the mark, to start, the first options have to be done each and every time you want to close Firefox because they don't repeat themselves, honestly, you don't this is beyond the ridiculous? No to mentions, your explanations are way awkward, are you using Firefox 56 by any chance? Because we are in version 71 and your instructions don't match. Two, I said, don't mess up with my History for mercy sake, so why you keep insist deleting my Firefox History, what is it you don't get? Honestly, don't worry about it, you don't seem to grasp what I am trying to accomplish here, for now all I have to do is delete one folder instead of this gobbledygook waste of time. Thank you very much! Take care, I am all set for now.

I explicitly wrote in above reply "do not" indicating that you shouldn't clear the History and the Cookies and the Site Preferences (i.e, only place a checkmark on Cache) in the settings window for "Clear history when Firefox closes". The third screenshot in your above reply doesn't show a checkmark on "Clear history when Firefox closes". If you want to clear the Firefox disk cache each time you close Firefox then you should use this feature. I'm not referring to the "Clear History" button that also shows in that screenshot.

If you want to cleanup third-party cookies when you close Firefox then use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" as this honors cookie allow exceptions so you casn keep 'remember me' cookies for websites.

Note that it is best to delete the 'index' file as well in addition to clearing the 'entries' folder in the 'cache2' folder (doomed is used when Firefox detects a problem with the disk cache on startup).

SOLVED, You are right, my bad, I tried it previously but it wouldn't work correctly, this time I reasoned if you are so persistent something is wrong with my Firefox, so I reinstalled it Lo and Behold now it works each and every time. I selected your solution as the Chosen Solution, thanks a million, sorry for my temper. See attached images
