The function of "find" for search is not working right for the latest version (71.0 (64-bit)). I can't review them one by one using "enter" button as before.

Hm. My find still tabs through the options when I press enter in FF71 (64 bit).

There was an old bug (2016) in bugzilla that talked about it not working if you had "match case" enabled, but it still works for me if I have that enabled.

I can get it to not work if I click out of the find search box.

Have you tried seeing if the enter works in a private window? Perhaps an add on is interfering with this behavior?

It was all okay before the recent update. I am sure what has been changed.

The function only works one time when I opened a new page. After I tabbed through all the options by pressing enter for the first round, this function would not response any more. Normally it should automatically go to the first options again. If I type in a new key word, also no response.

Try booting firefox into safe mode to see if maybe an extension or add on is interfering with this behavior. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode

I'm still doing some research on this too.

Thank you for working on this!

Same thing happened in safe mode...

Okay, if it's happening safe mode it's not an add on or hardware acceleration causing it. Let's try refreshing your Firefox, navigate to " about:support " and click the refresh button, you should retain your important information (bookmarks, etc) as that's retained when you reset Firefox to its default state. Maybe the update borked something, and refreshing will help. I haven't been able to find any other users having this issue, and it is oddly specific.

Let me know

Is it a problem on all sites? For example, if you use Find (Ctrl+F) on this thread for the word safe does your Firefox show a total of 4 matches and can it cycle from 4 of 4 back to 1 of 4?

(I use Highlight All, but I doubt that makes any difference.)

Edit: It became 5 while I was composing this!

@jscher2000 Great catch! Thank you! So far it only happened to my Gmail page.

@evhenry The refreshing process didn't help. While I tried Google Chrome, everything is fine. I guess there is something incompatible between Gmail and Firefox.

On your Gmail, does Firefox just stop at the last hit (e.g., 7 of 7) or does it seem to be finding hidden things, or failing to scroll them into view?

more options

@jscher2000 Firefox didn't stop at the last hit and all the highlights disappeared. If I keep pressing enter button, nothing happens. I don't think it was finding hidden things, because when I typed in a new word, the find function had no response also. Basically, the find function got stuck at this point.

I also see this behavior in my gmail. I found a bug filed on bugzilla for this, too, filed 4 months ago.

@evhenry Did you get any response from them? Or they just don't care?!

I went to file a bug report on this but it appears to be fixed as of the developer version (FF72). It also behaves correctly in FF Nightly (FF73).

If you don't want to wait for FF72 to get public release, you can download FF72 here:
