Others have reported the same (to me it sounds like a Firefox 67.0 bug) .....

May I ask : when you click on the Home button, does your homepage open as usual  ?

You haven't (inadvertently) set Firefox to restore the previous session  ?

Filing a bug report wouldn't make sense when you use a Firefox version from the Ubuntu repositories. You would have to take this to Ubuntu.

Is this only happening on startup and does the toolbar Home button work correctly?

Previously there was a startup setting to select the home page, but now you need to do this via the about:config page. Via "Options/Preferences -> General -> Startup you can only set a blank page and "Restore Previous Session".

• browser.startup.page = 1
  (0:blank; 1:home page; 3:restore previous session)

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

You can file a bug report on Linux, but Ubuntu modifies its special branded version via special setting files, so you can consider this as a third-party build that behaves differently. You can recognize this via Ubuntu in the user agent.

Thank everybody for the replies. yes, the home button brings up the homepage. No, in settings it is not set to restore previous session. and everything was fine till 67.

I would think this is a Mozilla Linux Firefox version and not some kind of altered program by Ubuntu.

Your User-Agent used to post this thread in More System Details is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

This is a Ubuntu package build and not a official build from Mozilla that you can get from say www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

As cor-el said it is plausible that it can be a issue with the Ubuntu build of Firefox.

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear any data?

Are you possibly using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" and also "Clear history when Firefox closes"?

• Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security:
  Cookies and Site Data:
  [ ] "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed"
• Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security:
  Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
  [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

If you do then try to disable at least one of these.
