How to display two websites at the same time:

  1. Visit the first website.
  2. In the menu at the top of the Firefox window, click File > New Window.
  3. In the new window that now appears, visit the second website.
  4. If you are not running Windows 10, manually arrange the two windows so they display side by side.
  5. If you are running Windows 10, choose one of the two windows and press Windows Key + Left Arrow key. Then choose the other window and press Windows Key + Right Arrow key.
  6. In some situations, you may need to press the key combination a second time, or also press the Windows + Up key to get a window to be displayed in the full height. A little experimentation may be needed in some situations, but no manual adjustment and no other key combinations are needed.

The result will be to see one website in the left half of your screen and the other in the right half, each in its own window.

This appears to be less flexible than tiling windows, but if you want to use the sidebar for the second document, this extension might be helpful:

yes , but i think mozilla add a new feature to use the browser in split screen like feature because by using these command we just the user experience bit complicated . By using such we can't shift between the next page .

Think of a browser in which we just click on button and the we use two tabs simultaneously and having the feature to change the tab by just clicking on the desired tab.

But i also want full control over width of the page, but in the side view add-on i don't have full control over the webpage and the side-view also does't allow to increase the size of the page instead there only the screen width decreasing feature.

Hi abhishek guleri, you're right, the sidebar can't be expanded all the way to half the tab width. It really wasn't intended for that.

yes sir, you are absolutely right. side-view is just a temporary solution but not effective at all because screen view doesnot support expanding the web page.

I had Boomarklets many years ago that could make spit screens vertical and horizontal. You could use a search engine to start with and then use it to go to different sites in each side.

I've just tried Side View Add-on. It divides the screen into main- and side view (about 2/3 to 1/3). But in this video it look different: The split is in half. I couldn't get it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk8LZwew_HY#action=share

This would great to split window in half to look simultaneously on tow documents on google doc for example. Any clue ?

Thanks

I assume that you would have to use code in userChrome.css to bypass the width restriction for the sidebar. Keep in mind that you likely won't be able to reload/refresh pages opened in the sidebar (i.e. you have to close and reopen the page).

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

#sidebar { min-width:0px!important; max-width:none!important; }

Hi Eco-be, that video shows a different design -- I don't know how they did that. Maybe it was a special power built into the Test Pilot extension?

This June 5, 2018 video (one day later) shows the extension using the actual sidebar the way it does now: https://youtu.be/no6D_B4wgo8

I don't think we have enough leads to track down the other version of the add-on, but it's very interesting.

FF used to have a split screen add on but then for some reason they got rid of it. This works perfectly. Thank you.

Hi abhishek guleri, Here is a Legacy extension called Split Pannel which says: "Allows you to view see two pages simultaneously for comparison or copying info from one to the other. Can be resized by dragging the bar between the main browser and new panel."

Hello again abhishek guleri,

I also checked that extension against the Blocked Add-ons list. I recommend checking any legacy add-on against that list.
