Bookmarks randomly changing order, and can't drag them properly
Recently (perhaps the last 6 months) I keep noticing that the order of bookmarks within folders sometimes changes.
For example, I have one folder where I keep bookmarks of all my discussions on a certain site. To create my bookmarks, I always drag the site down from the padlock icon into the folder. Newly-added bookmarks are always added to the bottom of the folder, so I know that they're all in chronological order - newer at the bottom. But lately, I'll sometimes go to that folder to find that many of the bookmarks have randomly changed order, and they never go back to where they used to be.
When this happens, I also find that I can't drag the bookmarks into the correct position. I'll drag the bookmark to where it's supposed to be, and the highlighted line will indicate where it's going to go. But when I let go of the button and go back to the folder, it's moved to some totally different, random place in the folder.
This doesn't seem to happen to all folders, only certain ones. Also, I've only noticed it happening in top-level folders, not nested folders.
I have over 25,000 bookmarks in total, so being able to keep them well-organized is important to me. I've used Firefox for about 12 years and this has never been a problem before.

Are you using sync? Are you using any bookmark add-ons or programs?
[v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.
When done, copy and post the results here.

Hmm, Looks okay.
When do you notice the bookmarks changing? When Firefox starts? While using the browser?
Are the changes random or always 'reset' the same way?

It seems to be when Firefox restarts. I haven't noticed things moving around during a session, but that's not to say it's not happening.

I cannot see any pattern to how they change. Usually, it seems like most of them stay in the same place, while a handful of them randomly move.
It's a difficult problem to troubleshoot as it doesn't happen every time I restart Firefox. I wish I knew what triggered it.

In case it helps, I've just made a screenshot of the DATES of one of these folders (below). The dates clearly aren't chronological, even though they should be, as I added them all the same way every time (dragging the padlock icon into the folder).
(Note that SOME of these could be in the wrong order due to me experimenting with manually rearranging them - but I didn't do that with more than 3 or 4 of them.)
