In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

• all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
• default theme is used (no persona)

• Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
• hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Performance > Uncheck to view)
• plugins are not affected

If so please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

First bear in mind I am 73 with severe brain damage after a stroke, but I tried opening in safe mode(shift plus open). Seemed OK and it said click here to sign in but it did not recognise my password and took me through security to reset it Which I did but still through me out. Thought of trying method B to remove Firefox and download latest version. But if I remove existing Firefox first, how do I get on Internet to download new version???

I'm having problems with version 62.0.2. In earlier updates soundclouds password wasn't remembered, now it's affecting Ebay. As for the fixes provided above I personally couldn't be bothered to go through all that. I've come to the conclusion that the Internet will never work properly, there's always something broken. I'm tired of this now.

Do you still have the Key icon on the location/address bar when this happens?

If that is the case then click this Key icon and it should open the doorhanger dialog to store the password.

Note that a detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie, so you need to make sure to keep such cookies.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

• you can create an "Allow" exception to keep specific cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
• Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
  Cookies and Site Data: Exceptions

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

• do not clear the Cookies
• do not clear the Site Preferences
