Mozilla does not opens .edoc files. It converts them to compressed file and even when opening with edoc reader it converts edoc to edoc.zip Also I cannot change assotiation for edoc, because it does not open like edoc but compressed file. And in assotiation window I cannot add edoc. That has changed after latest updates. Those who had assotiation before, opens correctly, but for new users, we canot find the way...

Hi, please test with Hardware Acceleration turned off :

With no Extension information supplied please go into add-ons and disable everything. Test to see what happens. If getting the download ok with no Extension name change then Re enable 1 at a time, & restart Firefox from the 3 Bar Menu --> Exit each time. then Re-start each extension till you find which one one which group is the issue.

You can also test but does not take away from the above Testing : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

TEST''''is issue still there ?

Not a recognized format unless you have an application installed that sets the Registry keys for the file association so that Firefox knows how to handle that file extension automatically.

https://file.org/extension/edoc

See the second paragraph: "It is possible that some .edoc files are just simple .doc files that are digitally signed. Users can open the .edoc files using Microsoft Word and save it as a new file in a more common file format. Users can also use Notepad or .pdf reader programs to open the said files and export it to other file types. EDOC files sometimes contain one or more kinds of files so scanning them first before opening should be a precursor.
