As you may know the 52.9.x ESR will get more and more vulnerable and will potentially not support any new cipher and TLS changes and such as time goes on.

For example some sites like eBay and PayPal are now looking for web browsers that support TLS 1.2 at minimum (which Firefox has by default since 27.0) and Firefox 60.0 and later supports TLS 1.3 by default now.

Besides using Windows 7 or later there is the option of dual booting with a light Linux distro (Xubuntu and Lubuntu among others) that still supports the old 32-bit CPU's.
