My firefox recently updated (unexpectedly) and I can't find the bookmark star now (or any of my bookmarks, some important). Where are they?!

Hi, good question. I do not even remember version 53 now. Myself I never new the existed for years until a install one time around 56. So yes they can hide due to code not installing properly during the update.

Let's work on your bookmarks 1st. Bookmarks do you have a folder on your Desktop called Old Firefox Profile ? If so it maybe possible to get them out of there. If not do you have a 2nd Profile in the Profile folder, oldest dated folder ?

So what version of FF53 was your before was it 64bit or 32bit? I think this is the mostly likely case why your bookmarks are gone or missing. The latest version of FF57+ install or upgrades the Browser to match your O/S version and I that experience it going from 32 to 64 and that changes the location of where the Browser starts from and if this is the case then this might be the cause of missing links when you start FF after it updates.
