great, thanks. can you try if this change can workaround the performance problem?: go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > privacy & security panel and under permissions check the setting to prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser.

That may have fixed it. I wasn't able to do anything at youtube without the browser locking up instantly. Hopefully that fixed the proble, if it locks up again I'll post, otherwise I'll mark this solved. Thanks!

Why then did it stop working and produce strange errors right after the recent update on two of my Window 7 PCs. Why is there no problem on several of my friend's similar PCs with Windows 10? Why am I reading comments contrary to your assertion that Mozilla supports Windows 7? Have you told them to stop spreading false info about the problems they are having. Do you represent Mozilla?
