Is it Possible to Stop ALL requests for Location location

more options

All these sites want me to share location info. I NEVER share location info.

Instead of blacklisting 1 site a time, is it possible to shut off this feature completely?

NO there is never a time I would like to share this info. NO. NEVER.

And if a website can't "work properly" without invading my privacy, well then... how the f cares?

The weird thing is, if you decline permission the usual way they work, but if you block the function completely, they stop working. It's as though they just sit and wait forever for the answer to a question Firefox isn't even asking you.

How many sites ask you for location in the course of a week?

If Firefox forgets that you've blocked a site between sessions, make sure you do not have "Clear history when Firefox closes" turned or, or if you do, click the Settings button to make sure "Site Preferences" are not being cleared. (Other possible issues: How to fix preferences that won't save)

There is a global off switch for detailed location. Users have reported some sites stop working with that setting off, I think one was a weather site and another used an embedded map. If you start to see that more, you can consider switching it back to the "ask me" default.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste geo. and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the geo.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

If you need to reverse that later, you can double-click it to switch it back to true.

Note that some website may not work properly when you disable Geo Location. Firefox will always ask for permission when a website wants to make use of Geo location. A website can always do a reverse DNS look up of your IP.

No they can't always do an IP lookup because I use a VPN, so they don't know what my TRUE IP is.

Thanks for playing.

That may be what happens but clearly it is not what SHOULD happen.

I should be able to say "NEVER SHARE LOCATION" globally. It probably shouldn't be under about:config but an option/setting. But whatever.

If I select "NEVER SHARE LOCATION" when a site asks "do you want to share location?" The answer should be "NO" with no interaction from me.

How do I make this an upgrade request/suggestion?
