I saw from us-cert that firefox 51 update is available, and when checking in "about firefox " it said that i was up to date with 50.0.1 update so i downloaded firefox 51 and now shows in "about firefox" as a 32 bit system, and i think my system is 64 bit (vista home premium), which by my user name you can see that i do not know 100% what i'm doing. am i in trouble with security or other issues or should i go back to 50.0.1 (which i have no idea how to do). thank you for any help that you can give me.

hi, no you are not in trouble. we temporarily halted updates to 51.0 because there is a bug that breaks geolocation (like determining your own location on maps.google.com). there will be a new update released soon that fixes the issue. In regards to 32bit - Firefox on windows has always been a 32bit application so far... your 64bit operating system will run 32bit applications just fine.

Firefox for Windows is available as 32-bit and more recently 64-bit (Win64) (since Firefox 42.0) however the Win64 requires 64-bit Windows 7 or later. Those using Windows XP, Vista and Servers whether 32-bit or 64-bit will only be able to run the 32-bit Firefox.

Firefox for Windows is served as 32-bit on www.mozilla.org however if you go to the other systems & languages page www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ there is Win64 Firefox also for those who can run it.

Support for WinXP and Vista is being dropped starting Firefox 53.0 and later. However you will have a option of using the Firefox 52.0 ESR. The ESR channel generally gets eight major updates in line with major Releases and is for security and allowed stability fixes. The Fx 52.0 ESR will also be a way to use other Plugins besides Flash Player for a while longer.
