I restarted my computer and now Firefox won't run my BitDefender Wallet password app. When I check in Add-ons Manager it now says that it could not be verified and has been disabled. There doesn't appear to be any way to enable this app. It works fine in Google CHROME! I use this app. all the time and this causes me a great deal of inconvenience. I've been using this app for many, many months. I haven't updated Firefox recently so why has this happened. Lately I have been having a number of issues with Firefox and I am getting frustrated and thinking about changing to Chrome. I have been using Firefox for many years.I'm using version 49.0.2.

Fred McD :- I have not tried your suggestion yet as it takes a bit of time and is a little inconvenient at the present time.

jscher2000 :- BitDefender is my security product and set for hourly updates. This morning I received an update that said it require a restart to complete. I restarted my computer and later when I logged in to Firefox I noticed that the Wallet icon appeared in the 'Tools' area. I clicked on it and it now appears to be working. I went into the Trouble Shooting Information and BitDefender Wallet is not operating at version 4.1.6! The BitDefender update has fixed the problem. I still have not heard from BitDefender support but my issue is now resolved. Thanks both of your for your help. GreyViper.

Check BitDefender for updates.

I already have the latest version of BitDefender.

Starting with Firefox version 48, the add-on signing requirement will be enforced with no override in Release and Beta versions of Firefox. See the MozillaWiki article, Add-ons/Extension Signing for more information.

I have had version 49.0.2 for a while and it has been working. What has changed to cause it to stop working?

Have you contacted BitDefender support?

Could you mention the version you have of the BitDefender Wallet extension? You should be able to find that on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the Extensions heading and then check the lower part of that table. What version is it? Thanks.

Meanwhile, if you cannot get a signed version of this extension from BitDefender and its functions are crucial for you, please see the section of the following support articles for advanced users, toward the end: Add-on signing in Firefox. In short, there are four other variants of Firefox in which you can use unsigned extensions. The most stable is the Extended Support Release of Firefox 45.

I looked at the BitDefender forums and there were some French-language threads where users said they were able to get the extension activated by using the "Repair" function once or twice. I found an article for how to do that in the 2016 version and I suspect it's similar in the 2017 version:

http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-repair-bitdefender-2016-1469.html

If you try that, let us know how it goes.

Fred McD :- YES! I have contacted BitDefender support. I am waiting for a response from them. I have sent them an email via their support page.

jscher2000 :- The version of Wallet is 4.1.5.

jscher2000 :- The wallet function is not essential to me but it is extremely convenient. If I am going to a web site where I need a password I have taken to using Chrome as it works with the BitDefender Wallet. I will try the repair option and post you the results. Thanks for your help.

jscher2000 :- I have done one BitDefender repair without any change. I might add I also have BitDefender installed on my desktop computer and I do NOT have this problem on it. However, it is running BitDefender 2016 and the Wallet version is only at version 3.0. A couple of days ago I received an update to BitDefender (on my laptop which has the problem) that required a restart and that may have been when the problem commenced. I can't be certain.

Try this, totally remove BitDefender. Then reinstall the current.
