So my firefox does a couple of weird things:

First, every time I start firefox, it seems to start up as if it the first time ever. I will ask me if I would like to import bookmarks from chrome or IE then ask if I would like to import the home pages.

Second, I cannot pin Firefox to my toolbar.

I am running on Windows 7 Enterprise. This is my work computer and I have local admin rights.

You get the import wizard if the profiles.ini that registers profiles is missing.

Do you only have one profile in the default location?

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Go up one level to the "Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" folder to see all profiles.

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

The profiles.ini file should be in this location:

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\

Does Firefox create a profiles.ini file and is this file still there on the next start and after a reboot?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
