Flash player hangs in firefox (does not load)
Firefox Dev Ed 46.0a2 (2016-02-11) Flash player 20.0.0.306 Windows 10 build 14257
Simply refuses to load flash videos across multiple sites.
I have removed and re-installed flash. I Also completely removed Firefox and re-installed. Have turned off add-ons one by one to check for conflict.
There is no "settings" panel to disable hardware. I have unchecked flash protected mode.
No change in the problem.
I also did a clean install of windows and only installed firefox and I still have the same problem. This is happening on 3 computers
I am at a loss but simply refuse to use another browser because I need some of the add ons (Like pocket)
Since this is problem happens on multiple machine, after a clean install, I do not think this is local to my environment.

We have a help article explaining that.
It is not always necessary to do that. FlashPlayer works for me in Windows 10 on Firefox Developer Edition. Where necessary we did have to explain how to do that manually but now it can be done easily with a few mouse clicks from the addons manager.
Background info and the manual method are explained in

For anyone having this problem try this
You will need to take ownership of the following file http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/take-ownership-of-files-folder-and-change-permissions-in-windows-8/
Try this, open(with notepad) "mms.cfg" in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash add the following line
ProtectedMode=0
This worked on all 3 of mine

John
I appreciate the information but would have appreciated it more 2 weeks ago. I had to stumble across this tidbit on reddit from another user who had also posted here and not gotten a response.
I do appreciate the info but not the timing.
Thanks again
Maybe FlashPlayer or video sites have improved the need to disable protected mode is possibly not as common as it once was. This is still cross linked from our main help article on Flashplayer
- Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems#w_playing-flash-videos-makes-firefox-hang ==> Adobe Flash protected mode in Firefox
Sorry Firefox does not do time travel ;-) Had you posted or looked here a couple of weeks go maybe you would have found the solution.
Thanks for posting back. I will mark this as solved. Solved questions are easier to find, as they get indexed by Google so at least others may benefit from you posting this thread.

Hi shilow19
You already have some questions of your own list Use that to check any outstanding questions but note some of those will no longer be active.
As you are not sure why you are here I think the best thing for you to do now is to ask a new question yourself. Please use this link
If you wish post back in this thread* to say you have asked a new question and we will find it.
