I have noticed that since the new way of displaying status has been implemented in FF many web sites (usually questionable ones) are able to hide the box that shows the web link that one is hovering over, I cannot find a setting to force the links to be dispayled and this makes FF very vulnerable. I always check the URL of a link before visiting it, but if I cannot it is a risk. Why do FF allow web site codes do this?

Are you describing the url that shows up in the bottom left of the browser when you hover over a link?

Sometimes links also will redirect when clicked on. There is an old article that recommends an add on that was used to predate the version 34 behavior. Its not a long term work around, but might be worth a try?

The URL (href attribute) in a link may not be reliable because the actual action may be done via an onclick handler.
