I downloaded and installed FF for iOS the day it was released and signed in to sync on iOS.

Yesterday I noticed NONE of my passwords are saved on my laptop. My Bookmarks and 2 plugins are still there, but NO passwords. Unfortunately, today I wiped my computer so I cannot follow other steps about getting them back through the backend file system.

Any thoughts on how to recover all those passwords AND why this would have happened? Seems coincidental about the FF app effecting the desktop browser.

Hi xMatter, I do not know what caused the passwords to no longer be there. I have two questions for further investigation.

  1. are/where there any password managers installed on the other devices syncing to the account?
  2. What version have you updated to in the Itunes store?

I accidentally marked as resolved.

1) No password managers or any other plugins besides AdBlock Plus and Web Mail Adblocker on my laptop. My iPhone has the basic Safari KeyChain enabled.

2) I only used the very first version of FF that was available the day of release. After noticing this issue, I removed the app from my iPhone.

I don't know how it happen, but I lost my passwords a week ago. I was able to restore them thanks to the FEBE add-on.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.
