Insert character or symbol stops working after one use, necessitating re-boot.

When writing e-mails I find I can only use the insert character/symbol feature once. If I want to use it again in the same or another e-mail, I can only do so after re-booting Thunderbird (not the computer) I am using Windows XP home edition

I have no issues, I suggest you try restart with add-ons disabled from the help menu and see if perhaps the issue is caused by an add-on or theme.

Thanks, Matt, I re-started after taking the clean up option and it now seems to work OK; I did not have to disable the add-ons
