What happen when you tried it?

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

Here are the crash reports you requested. I disabled protected mode in flash plugin last night -hoping it would work; it didn't. I haven't found disable hardware acceleration in the flash plugin; will look again. Will check graphic card updates.

I didn't remove old folders by adding .old to them as I'm afraid I will mess something up - I can try. What I didn't understand was after I change the file names assuming I can find them - the directions said Now run the full installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done. What is the full installer; didn't understand.

Hope you can help. I didn't do the retune yet, which use to be called re-set; also fearful it will be worse or I will lose something important. I think the retune keeps the plug-ins as I have many which are all suppose to be necessary; but it doesn't save the extensions. I suppose I can copy those and re-load them individually as I have only a few. Please help. I will work on some of your other suggestions now like graphic card update, it's an old card but replacement to what I originally had in this very old computer.

The reason I gave you the instruction above was to replace your current Firefox with a new version. This is in case something in the Mozilla folders was damaged. Please follow the instructions I posted.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And one folder in the profile of each user on the computer.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user folders would not be effected.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).

To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

1. Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
2. Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
3. Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
4. Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
   
   The image "fpSettings1.PNG" does not exist.
   
5. Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
6. Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
7. Restart Firefox.

Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

• Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

• (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

• It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

If you keep having problems then create a new profile.

That looks like problems with the Shockwave Flash plugin.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

• make sure you have the latest Flash version:

Sadly I have latest flash player 19.0.0.185; however, I can't figure out how to open it in my pc, I don't have the icon as there should be a setting in there in hardware acceleration. firefox add-on's shows latest version , but there is no setting for hardware acceleration; only protect mode and I don't know how to open the dam thing. I have adobe reader but that is different. That may not work anyway (the acceleration setting).

I have latest graphic driver although control panel doesn't say that - that's a problem with windows xp, often the control panel doesn't label the latest version, but I checked with nvidia and it says I have latest driver.

This has made my life miserable for a while to the point, I don't want another Microsoft product and that is windows 10; I am waiting to see the new iMac's coming out soon with super high resolution on the 21.5" screen. I will learn Mac, much fewer problems. In mac I can run firefox or safari.

p.s. there is also a potential problem with Firefox especially since 40 came out; I see tons of plugin container errors and it's sickening.

there also could be an issue with my firewall which is complex as I use comodo; it has firewall, anti-virus and sandbox; I don't know if there is something in the firewall that needs to be set to handle the plug-in container issue.

I don't know what I'm talking about but I do know that some outside firewall's and anti-virus programs greatly affect some computer programs; I had that in the past and had to switch from Aviara to comodo.

I will call Comodo tomorrow and see if there know of any Firefox crash problems.

thanks but This was not my question, I disabled the protected mode yesterday but it didn't work; I'm talking about disabling the hardware accelerator in flash plugin. It is not listed as an option, only protected mode. However, on the adobe flash web site, it does list a box for hardware accelerator, but I can't find it as I can't open adobe flash player except in firefox add-ons.

so far nothing has worked to stop the plugin-container crashes; today it's been ok but I don't have many tabs open; that seems to be a trigger.

That can be achieved via this line in the mms.cfg file:

It appears that shockwave flash is my major problem; I have the latest version of flash. What I've done now is set it to not activate unless I allow it per individual web sites.

It was fine for a while until I allowed flash to run on Salon.com; it crashed and there is a new crash report but it doesn't show up yet so I can't give it to you.

What I didn't do as it scares me is re-load entire Firefox from the beginning; then adding back everything; or I can true to tune-up. I'm simply afraid to do this without supervision. I will get back to solving this issue perhaps tomorrow. It appears that Firefox has a huge problem with shockwave flash; a simple solution would be to replace shockwave flash with alternative software if that even exists. Firefox should fix this problem once and for all; it's all over their support issues. all of this along with my hatred for microsoft leaves me in one direction - get a Mac, no more pc's. I am waiting for the new iMac's but timing it terrible due to the stock market huge correction.

thanks, I will try video without flash; I assume I have to totally disable shockwave flash - its on ask me for permission now; and make video without flash as default. is that correct.

At some point, I will also do an entire re-set, or do so when I get a new computer when that happens automatically as I will just be moving mike bookmarks. I don't know if you can move over all firefox add-ons from an old to new computer and if so if it's wise to do so. Chances are there is an error in my Firefox code somewhere, not the add-ons which I have reloaded many times.
