how do I get Firefox to use more than 12.5% of my wireless modem's capacity?

Only when using Firefox, pages take forever to load. Looking at my wireless router's utilization, I've found that it generally runs (with just Firefox, no other program running on the internet) at 0% or 0.0*%, with rare spikes up to 5%. Even when trying to watch a video.

When I'm downloading something, it might jump to over 12.5%, for a little bit, but I've never seen it hit even 50%.

When I'm trying to do something that seems like it should take up more of my router's capacity, Firefox instead takes up quite a bit of my CPU, I'm guessing that there's a lot of asking where data packets are or something.

I have no proxy on, neither restarting nor updating Firefox has worked, nor has fully restarting my computer. I've adjusted my network connections down, then back up, and all that has done is make it so that I can't watch youtube videos, of which it generally takes me a few tries to load in a resolution that won't hurt my eyes, and that's with an add-on that makes it so that they are forced to play in HD!

Ok, everything is fine with the ISP part- I thought so, as tests with IE had shown wireless adapter activity more like what was expected.

I also updated both FF (not something I like to do, as only rarely is the update compatible with my add-ons. My set up fits me, it works, why should I change to something that won't?), And a computer update (Which, yes, I should do more often. The last one that automatically went though was massive, though, and literally broke my copy of FireFox. THAT was annoying!).

I still feel like it's running too low, but at least the videos load and play smoothly now- Well, mostly.

They load up, kick to an error screen for a few moments, and then auto-reload and then play properly. I guess I can live with that.

Your wireless device is capable of much more throughput than your actual internet connection is. The only way to use the full capacity would be to transfer data between two devices on the same wireless network.

In other words, when using your maximum internet connection you will probably only use less than 10% of the wireless connection.

For example, my Wireless router can handle 1200Mbps- but my internet connection is only 100Mbps. So using all of my internet connection only uses 8% of my Wireless device's capacity.

That's true, but my numbers listed? Are while trying to watch a video! Something is very wrong there!

Have your ISP test your service, and check it's Mbps. What is the rate you are subscribed to?
