I have been using Version 28 (the last good one) for years now because I had problems with newer versions being buggy on my older 2005 Dell Win_XP 32bit desktop PC. I bought a brand new HP15 laptop a few months back (Win8.1 x64) and have been running V.28 on it since it had more toolbar buttons available (Download Progress Bar, Stop/Reload Button, Old Style Bookmarks Drop Down Menu). Today I decided to upgrade to the latest version (38.0.1) and so far it has not seemed like an upgrade to me. The missing taskbar buttons mentioned above are one gripe I have. Don't know why they were removed from newer versions, but that's for another time. My main problem with v.38 is that ever since I installed it, the Options menu is locked and/or inaccessible. When I open Options, the menu that appears won't let me click anything, plus it has a strange unmarked button in the middle of the screen that does nothing when I click on it (see attached pic). I read a few of your support articles, but none seemed to solve the problem. I even changed the name of the existing Firefox folder and reinstalled a clean version thinking that perhaps since the first installation was just an upgrade rather than a fresh install, something from the previous v.28 might be conflicting with the new version, but still I can't access the Options Menu. It seems like that unmarked button wants me to click on it to perform a task or something before it will let me access the Options, but as I said, clicking it does nothing at all. The button presses when I click it, but it stays on the screen and nothing happens afterward. Any help would be appreciated. I may have to revert back to v.28 if the Options menu doesn't start working.
