Hello

I dont know if this is even technically possible.

I love OSX notifications (I am on 10.10.2 yosemite). I would love to receive notifications after certain web pages have completed their activity. I need this as it seems more and more apps are moving to web browser technology rather than an separate app. So now I have all this activity happening in Fx, and i have to keep clickign on each tab.. to see if its finsihed yet...

for example: I upload a file to my seedbox via the seedbox's file manager browser. No notifications received. So i have to keep checking when this file is finished uploading.

Any ideas to help me improve my workflow? I am thinking i want notifications to come thru my osx notification.

thankyou

thankyou FredMcD for taking the time to respond and your idea. Most definitely checked their support page. (Fx support is my last resort, when I am totally stuck). And your idea is how i am currently doing it. Yes it helps but still no notifications. Some files are 100mb and on my slow mobile broadband take a while to upload.

Temporary Solution How I got around it, is routed everything thru dropbox. Dropbox has osx notifcations. So no longer using web browser technology. Using dropbox sync that connects mac to dropbox and then to the server where i was originally dragging and dropping the file to.

EDIT: In testing, I discovered you receive the OSX notification when items are moved out of the dropbox folder on the dropbox server (e.g. dropbox sync CLI (dropbox.py) on the seedbox). You dont receive the OSX notification when items are sent via the dropbox sync utility (mac to dropbox Account). So I am receiving the OSX notification "x items deleted", when the sync folder is cleared by the dropbox sync action on the seedbox. Which is exactly what i wanted, ultimately.

EDIT: discvoered FX addon: videodownload helper, newest edition since v37.0.2 has OSX notifications when download is complete. Not stumbled on an FX addon-yet that has OSX notifications for upload (e.g. drag and rop file on the web page)

Does that program have settings? Is there anything there to help?

There are add-ons that can display the current transfer status. But I don't know if they would work on seedbox's file manager.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

thankyou FredMcD for taking the time to reply.

I had in fact already searched addons before logging the post. So i found nothing useful, contra to your comment "a lot of good stuff") I think your comment is way too general. There is of course good stuff but unrelated to my question.

there are many web pages i want this for. the example i gave: the web page where i upload a file to the seedbox has no settings about notifications. its fairly basic upload a file page.

Havve you checked with their support page? Someone may have created an add-on for that program.

Here is an option. Open two Firefox windows. Use one window for that program (size and move it so you can see its display), and use the other window for everything else.

This add-on Distill.io allows popup message via Firefox Browser (Apparently, Firefox browser add-on previously was called AlertBox.). Supports Email Notification too.

For any website. Very very cool!

and soon, will have an OSX application

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/alertbox/?src=search the browser add-on provides unlimited usage (free) and the cloud app (allows monitoring for when you are not online), you can sign-up for a free account. Free account allows 3 watchlists (monitors) to be setup and 30 email notifications. I signed up for Basic Plan as it looks so great and very easy to use.
