Hi.Is it ok (i.e no performance issues) to run Adobe Flash (for video podcasts ) with this version of Firefox for Windows ?
Haven't downloaded Adobe Flash because I am concerned I will recreate the performance problems which I experienced on my desktop under Windows Xp.The machine became unusable in 2014 with response times extending into minutes.I read an article in The Age Green Guide which suggested that these issues might be attributed to an incompatibility between the earlier version of Firefox and my Dell Desktop running Windows XP.Am I right to be so cicumspect ?

Flash is easy to disable if it causes problems, so I suggest trying it. When getting the download, make sure to uncheck any unwanted extras:
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
To control when Flash runs, you can change the permission from "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate". That way you aren't wasting cycles on ads.
To set "Ask to Activate", open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page. You only need to do something if you actually want to use Flash on that page.
