I can't backup the clippings file

For a long time I have not been able to backup the clippings I have added.

When I try to use Tools, Backup I always get an error message:

A problem occurred while saving Clippings data. Click OK to try again, or Cancel to exit without saving

It doesn't say what the problem is.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

You are using the Clippings add-on?

Where are you trying to save your .rdf file? Do you have permission to write to this location?

Any time I open Clippings and then close it I get this message: 

A problem occurred while saving Clippings data. Click OK to try again, or Cancel to exit without saving.

This includes when the Clippings file has nothing in it.

I save Clippings to a folder that is in frequent use. There is no problem writing to this folder.

Surprisingly there is a Clippings rdf saved November 2014. This problem with saving backups started occurring probably sometime in December.

This is a fairly new Windows 7 64 bit PC that is updated regularly. I have never seen a problem after an update.
