Be happy if you dont have it. a search on internet gives: "The files is an executable runs as a local area network (LAN) Internet proxy server listening on port 1194 and has the ability to intercept and modify all inbound and outbound Internet traffic on the local host."

You should scan your pc för Adware, virus and alike. use several different anti-virus scanners as they can find different ones

Can't find anything like that. can't really find a "profile folder" either, nor any file called "user.js". I found a few folders called "profile" but all were empty

There is also a window that pops up, just a black window, called "teskeng.exe" - I found that as a program that appears to be part of the computer's operating system

First set alternatives so you see hidden files and directories in Explorer.

Then you can open firefox /help / " trouble solving information" (in Swedish "felsökningsinformation") there is a button "open directory" that will direct you to your profile-folder.

I can't get the Firefox Help button to appear, though I set Explorer to open hidden files (or at least that's what it looked like I did)

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7 According to your information you have a user.js (second last info) This file is read as the last startup-file, that way overriding any settings. Even changes we make through firefox. If you didn't create it probably some malicious adware did

Did you "unhide" hidden files and folders in Windows 7? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7

Windows hides folder locations such as that from the user by default. You need to change a setting in the Folders Options > View section of the Control Panel (or whatever Win7 calls it). Then you can look for that - C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\browser extensions\client.exe - file.

I'm curious why Firefox would try to "open" a file in that location, at all. I would be nice to see a screenshot of Firefox with that message showing. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.
Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
