After upgrade, Firefox opens to black screen. Reinstall and reset do NOT help.
Thanks - this seems to be happening for a number of reasons - but while trying them may help others so far I have not figured out how to fix my problem.
Yesterday Firefox installed the latest upgrade. All seemed to work fne. After I closed the browser and came back, however, I got the black screen. I reset. I reinstalled. I can start in safe mode. I cannot start otherwise.
This morning my virus software found a medium-threat malware - which may have nothing to do with my Firefox problem.
I have checked my intel graphics driver.
I've installed the troubleshooter as indicated below but I can't start it because I'm in safe mode.
I don't know what else to do. Thank you.

hello Z-PK, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem.
- Intel HD 2000/3000: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64bit)
- Intel HD 4000: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329 (for win7 64bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode by pressing the shift key while the application is launching & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).
