You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

This is definitely not going to solve my problem. This is a bug with Firefox 32 that Mozilla really needs to fix with Flash.

Also, get Mozilla to fix the buffering issue on Flash for Firefox 33.

It's puzzling that the gray bar (loading ahead of your current position) keeps rolling back every time I jump to a different spot in a video. Seems wasteful to keep downloading bits and pieces of the stream.

For two videos I tried jumping around worked normally, but on my screencast, the video sometimes stalled and wouldn't play further: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0431tculpg. On reload I sometimes could replicate the issue, sometimes not. Dragging through the thumbnails and releasing at the desired point might have worked better than hovering and clicking, but I got bored with testing it because it was intermittent.

I never noticed this with Flash 14; it could be a new interaction with Flash 15.

You could try bypassing DASH with the YouTube Center extension and see whether that works better for you. The version on the Add-ons site is from January, but an updated release from July is available on the developer's site: https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter/releases/latest

I have experienced that or similar quirks for many years, regardless of the version of Flash and version of Firefox. I see it more with Firefox 2.0.0.20 and Flash 10.3 than I do with later versions of Firefox [but that might be related to the types of videos I use Firefox 2 to play].

IMO, it seems to be related to some "sources"; could be the website, the CDN (content delivery network), the player used by the website (Vimeo, FlowPlayer, etc.), or from the original source and conversion to Flash media encoding - or maybe it's a setting made by the creator or person / software that encoded it for Flash.

Similar to how some videos load and viewing a particular video can be set for playback part way into the Flash file that was downloaded to show a specific snippet - once that snippet is played, the user can start that video from the beginning thru to the end. On those I have the most problem skipping around the video, like jumping forward or back by clicking the progress bar, or "sliding" the cursor like fast forward on a VCR (yeah I'm that old).

People, I have downgraded back to Firefox 31 and the problem doesn't happen on Firefox 31, but it happened to me on Firefox 32. Can someone contact Mozilla so they can fix this gray bar getting stuck problem on Firefox 33, which is expected to come out in mid-October?

Also, yesterday, I downgraded back to Firefox 31 and it fixed the issue. I am not upgrading until this gets fixed.

Note that with spamming on Bugzilla is meant that people receive unnecessary emails. Emails are send to all the people on the CC list every time a new comment is added. You made several changes and added quite a few to the CC list as the history of that report shows and even added some after they were removed. So you are actually spamming the people that you added to the CC list. You should never do that and only make changes to components if you are 100% sure that is the right component.

I am still waiting for this problem to be fixed.

I tested with 32.0.3 and it still wasn't fixed, and it's on Flash videos. If you're a Mozilla employee and you're reading this, you should have this fixed for all future releases.

That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
• Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference with the Flash player?

Firefox 33 is expected to come out in a couple weeks. I hope this problem gets fixed. Here is what I've been getting with Firefox 32 but not on 31:

jscher2000, ytcrschmidt from the Google Product Forums reported this Flash buffering problem on Firefox 32 to the Mozilla staff. This should be fixed for Firefox 33.

The buffering bar in Flash Player has been quirky for a long time no matter where I'm watching videos from. I just assumed as long as the video played, it didn't matter.

SuperSluether, this problem has only been in effect since Firefox 32. This needs to be fixed for Firefox 33 and all future versions.

Oh, I must just have a buggy version of Flash then.
