Can I download Firefox on top of itself?
I mistakenly deleted some certifications from Firefox thinking that would improve speed. I would like to download and install a refresh copy of Firefox. Can I install it onto itself or do I have to uninstall Firefox first? I have a lot of settings I would like to preserve.

Do you mean (root) certificates that you see in the Certificate Manager on the Authorities tab?
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Certificates: View Certificates
You can't remove root certificates permanently. Only the trust bits are reset and you should find them on a next start of Firefox. Other exceptions can be found in the Servers tab.
You can delete the cert8.db file and a possible cert_override.txt file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all certificates.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Your explanation helps. Thank you. But can I download and install Firefox without first uninstalling the current version I have installed?
Yes, you can download and reinstall Firefox on top of the current installation if you want. But that would normally have no additional benefits unless there were problems with files in the Firefox program folder. If you reinstall Firefox then usually it is best to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean reinstall.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox 32.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
