Here in university we need some extensiona that become deprecated by firefox.

I mention, downthemall, open in ietab and others

An workaround used is to downgrade firefox, and never update it (this is very stupid in my opinion)

Another is that some firefox developers decided to abando firefox and migrate to chrome like downthemall and open in ietab.

And so much users decided to migrate to Chrome.

The institution believe in firefox foundation, but the decision to block extension without communicate the final users, cause a lot of problems.

I like a clever solution for this problem something to permit to run the old extensions temporarily in quantum....???

or others sugesstion?

1)dont upgrade 2) migrate to chrome

Another advice that is not a good thing when you lost a lot of developers and contributtors because lack of comunication. Never is a good thing.....

Good night....

A little story personally i start using Firefox only because a prized extension called downthemall, this extension is very usefull in academic life. The developer not intereste in continue with Project in quantum line, personally i stop using Firefox, because of their unilateral decision to discontinue extension abandon users and developers.

This is my personally opinion, but in my work everybody need a solution for the ausence of some important extensions, well i open a case on support and the only suggestion is to downgrade Firefox, great do it in one o two machines is simple but in a Thousand is not so simple, well for everybody who have similar problem i discover a simple solution, that you use in several machines .....without mozilla support help they are not interestes in legacy extension, users or developers...

well let me see:

1- download <strike>https://mozilla-firefox-portable.br.uptodown.com/windows</strike> 2- Install in a folder of your choice 3- configure in options block updates. 4- install your desired extensions 5- copy the folder to a network área, and do a batch packet to distribute in your network machines...

This solutions permit tha you maintain the two version alternate between it....

I expect that i help all orphan users from mozilla support...

I dont have more doubts anda dont need any answer good night for mozilla foundation.... the last turn off the lights....a great hugh

You can try 52 ESR (which will be supported until May 2018 -- where it will be updated to 59 ESR (Quantum). You can get it from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

As for your add-ons you can find replacements using this helpful website: https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/

DownThemAll is working on a port to WebExtensions for Quantum, but has been delayed, see here: http://www.downthemall.net/delays/

For IETab: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=IE

We should start seeing an influx of Chrome add-ons being ported to Firefox thanks to WebExtensions.

if this solved your problem, please mark as solution.

There have been updates since that post a year ago: http://www.downthemall.net/category/news/

IE Tab or Open in IE

Extensions can no longer embed software (such as IE) from other parts of the hard drive into a Firefox tab. What they can do is install a native executable to coordinate between the extension and the rest of the system.

A couple weeks ago I looked at the reviews for several of these extensions and they were... unkind. Partly it's the complexity of the extra installation, which might not be an issue for you.

Here are your choices; 1) Contact its support and ask if they will update 2) Find a replacement 3) Downgrade to a prior Firefox 4) Do without

This is what I did. I have Firefox 54, 57, and ESR on my system. Each uses its own profile since some add-ons don't work on 57. I use sync to share bookmarks, passwords, and history. Not preferences or add-ons.

I use 54 as my default and use the others if I want to.

Extension developers who were signed up for the Addons Developer blog and newsletter have been receiving information about upcoming changes to the Addons infrastructure for over 2 years now.

One example: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/category/developers/

Just a matter signing up to get a link via email when a new post blog comes out.

The proper place to get previous versions of portable Firefox is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/ and not some random unofficial download site like the one you posted.

Unless you get the program from a trusted source, you don't know what you will end up with.
