cannot send mail directly from link on page...have set gmail as default, but doesnt work

since upgrading to new version, I cannot email directly from a link on a page as before.. For example, on Craigslist, I used to be able to click on the "reply to" address and go directly into my gmail. Does nothing now. Have followed the online instructions and set Gmail as my default, but no luck.
