undable to connect to gmail with thunderbird after thunderbird update

sending of this message failed The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server SMTP failed. This server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Out going server settings are correct and try again

I have deleted the two accounts and added them back, restarted thunderbird but still be the same message. I'm sure this has happened since i updated the thunderbird version
