I would like to reset Firefox to open at less than full screen, I can find no such setting anywhere. I do not ever remember setting it to open at full size.

I now have a new Dell Ultra-wide 29" monitor, Firefox still opens at full screen which is now beyond annoying its aggravating. There are many settings in Firefox but none under "View" to select what size it opens at:

Thunderbird opens at partial screen, MS Edge opens at partial screen, so I know there is a setting buried deep somewhere in Firefox, it just needs to be two key clicks away under "View".

I tried deleting *xulstore.json* file in the Firefox profile folder with no joy. I tried refreshing Firefox, again no joy.

Then I recalled one of the the axioms related to "If cars behaved like computers, they would fail for no apparent reason and the only fix would be to remove the engine and transmission and reinstall them" So I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it from another browser that did open at partial screen, and voila Firefox now opens at partial screen.

I have no idea why that worked, but it is the only fix that did.

When you close the browser, or Thunderbird, it should remember the window size and position. Is there a problem with it?

Try to rename/remove the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
