Getting "secure connection failed", but site says there's nothing wrong at their end, the troubleshoot didn't help, what next?
I'm trying to use name.com but getting "secure connection failed", I contacted them regarding the TLS mechanism mentioned in the troubleshoot but they said there's nothing wrong. I still can't access the site or find solution. I've cleared my browser cache and cookies, and checked the site security, which says it's not secure and that I haven't granted any special permissions. So I tried to do that, but there were no permission options, (I found these instructions in the forum: "the address bar and Left click the icon. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select More Information. Now select Permissions. In the menu" <--- not there, see attached pic). Any further instruction would be most welcome and appreciated. Thanks Julie

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.

Can you attach a screenshot?

- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
- make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB
If you can't inspect the certificate via Advanced (I Understand the Risks) then try this:
Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:
- chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).
- retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
- click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer
You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.
Hello,
Thanks for the replies. The clock settings didn't seem amiss and my reader is up to date so no luck there. I'm attaching a screen grab from the certificate viewer but I don't think it's much help, it just says it's unable to obtain identification status. :(
