I have been experimenting with Firfeox Hello. I have Firefox 35.0.1 on Linux Mint 17.1 but Hello did not work properly. I used Refresh Firefox button on the web site and Hello then worked correctly and is great. Two days later it wasn't working again. I used Refresh Firefox and once more Hello worked fine. that was on Monday and it was working yesterday (Tuesday 24th) but this morning it wasn't working again until I once again used the Refresh Firefox button. But of coourse the conversations which I had set up and used disappeared in the Refresh along with my choice of home page, and other preferences.

I think Hello is a great tool. When it works it means that I no longer need to use Skype etc for most of my contacts. But the need to refresh every two days is a bit of a pain.

SOLVED : I think or maybe RESOLVED would be more correct. The problem seems to have gone away by itself :-) so I have no advice I can give anyone else who might experience this. I think it may be related to updates to my Linux Mint install but that is just a guess.

Hi, Firefox Hello is a great tool to chat with friends, however having to refresh Firefox every two days is not a great user experience.

Some facts about the links: They do eventually expire. Does this happen when you use an old link?

What specifically is not working? Is it a microphone or a camera? Firefox Hello - video and voice conversations online It is possible to manage sharing for a conversation to make sure that this is not the issue.

With a little more detail of what is not working will help further investigate what is happening.

Looking forward to your reply!

Thanks for your response. Yes I suppose something a little bit more detailed than "It doesn't work" would be helpful. :-) But this could be quite a long message.

When I first tried Hello clicking the "Start a conversation" button appeared to do nothing. The dialogue box just disappeared. Clicking again showed that a conversation link had been created but clicking the link had no effect.

After Refreshing Firefox, clicking the "Start a conversation button" opened a chat window and gave me the option to "Name the conversation". Closing the chat window and then pressing the hello icon in the Firefox toolbar brought up the normal dialogue box to start a conversation with the previously created link visible. I tested the link worked by emailing it to a friend. So far so good.

I tested that the link was still present on the following day and set up another couple of conversations.

The day after that I started Firefox, pressed the Hello icon and the situation was back to how it had been before the refresh. Clicking a link did not lead to a chat box opening. Thinking that perhaps the links had expired I tried to create a new link with the same outcome as when I initially started testing - no chat box.

I refreshed Firefox again and Hello was back to working correctly. Two days later it had reverted to non functioning again. A further refresh again fixed the problem. At the moment it appears to be working. Tomorrow will be two days since the refresh. Will it still be working?? No idea.

Interestingly I have another, older computer running a 32 bit version of Linux Mint 17.1 and Firefox 35.0.1 and Hello works fine on there and hasn't had to be refreshed since I first got it up and running. This is a fresh install of Mint 17.1 rather than an upgrade from Mint 17 as is the case on the 64 bit machine - not sure if any of that is relevant. There is a slight problem with the 32 bit machine in that the URL for any page is hidden behind a Blac/Grey rectangle (??)

If this happens again the next troubleshooting step would be to take a look at these logs: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Media/WebRTC/Logging
