With thanks to John99 who suggested this new thread:

First, both my banks have offered Rapport for the past few years. They say they advise it to prevent against online fraud. I would like to do as they suggest, but Rapport does not work since Firefox 41.

I have two PCs running Windows 7, Firefox browser, Kaspersky Internet Security, everything updated daily. Rapport console says Rapport is running but no icon appears on toolbar and when I log in to both my banks, they invite me to download Rapport even though it is already there and running.

I have spent hours trying to fix this. Last month Rapport's chatline told me they will fix it sometime, meantime I should use another browser although Firefox is used by 20% of internet users. Rapport does work with Internet Explorer but I do not wish to use IE, still less Google Chrome because of Google's incessant and increasing spying.

Rapport did suggest downloading latest version but its auto update does not work. Rapport website does not give its current version, it is necessary to download from Rapport site and choose Properties to determine the version number. When I did this last month I found that auto update was not working. Today Rapport control console says that version 1507.105 is current, I select “check for update” on the Rapport console and it confirms that 1507.105 is current, but when I go to Rapport website, download Rapport and check Properties I see the current version is 1507.109. Still does not work.

I'm sending copy of this to my banks. Maybe they can get some sense out of their supplier who doubtless charges them plenty.
