Spent all weekend trying to find out HOW Pocket works and got nowhere. WHERE does it save web-pages to? My C-drive? Where? Search won't find any supposedly saved pages. If the files are on my C:\ drive why do I need a Pocket account.

I'm obviously missing something here but I asked the question on "Search Mozilla Support" and got 1000 answers all NOT explaining how it works.

Won't somebody write an explanation in British English that we can all understand??????????

Did you see this support article? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/save-web-pages-later-pocket-firefox

"The Pocket for Firefox button lets you save web pages and videos to Pocket in just one click." Saved to Pocket servers, not to local hard drive.

There's a lot more information about using Pocket over here: https://getpocket.com/firefox/ And the Pocket Help Center is over here: http://help.getpocket.com/

I have seen all these help pages. Been trawling through them all weekend. I have read and re-read the first article shown in your reply and I cannot see anywhere "saved to Pocket servers". Am I to guess this????? This was what I was trying to find out.

I don't find these support pages very helpful, especially when you search for something and it brings up everything except the answer you are looking for.

So now we know that web-pages I want to keep are stored on Pocket's servers. So, are the LINKS to these pages stored or are the ACTUAL web-pages stored??

None of this is made clear, especially in the Mozilla support articles. Isn't there anywhere with a sensible yet detailed explanation???

"... I cannot see anywhere "saved to Pocket servers". ..."

That's where signing up for a Pocket account and being logged into Pocket via a "Mozilla Account" comes into play.

As far as the Mozilla support documentation lacking easy to understand information, I agree with you there. Plus, having to get particulars from the Pocket website for the "service" end and from Mozilla for the "in browser" features doesn't sit well with me.

As far as answers about your additional questions - I don't know. Pocket isn't something I would use myself for variety of reasons. When I want to save a web page, I save it to my local disk in MHT format. I am an old man who has been using PC's for over 30 years and this "cloud crap" ain't for me. Mozilla I trust, Read It Later, Inc (the creator of Pocket) I don't know or care to know. But that is where the future is headed; everything saved "in the cloud" and very little personal data or files residing on the users individual devices.
