My Firefox is updating even thought it is set NOT TO!
My firefox which is the last truly secure version that I am aware of has started updating itself without changing its version number. It updates the add-on manager which shuts down my flash player requiring me to update to less secure versions of flash It is now allowing no-right click scripts to actually not allow me to pull up the right click menu on webpages or restrict the options displayed according to the no-right click script that is running. Why is my version of Firefox more secure? it is farther away from the OS it does not interact with explorer and it has its own Java control. Newer versions of Firefox are almost as bad or worse than Internet Explorer which is now being abandoned by Microsoft due to all of its security bugs that have mostly to do with how closely it interacts with the OS. I want a BROWSER not a window into my systems OS for the entire world to use to try and get into it. I want the BROWSER to only BROWSE the internet not download things automatically, not shutdown my plugins without asking, not allow poorly coded scripts to execute code on my machine (including no-right click scripts). I need to know how to STOP my firefox from updating the addon manager. How to keep it from allowing IE only code from running as it has now started allowing no-right click scripts to execute.
My version is 18.0.1
I will not go past this version, I want to STOP it from accepting ANY and ALL UPDATES including to the ADDON manager! in my advanced tab I have already checked the button to Never check for updates, that is not working!

The flash fix is to use the current, not old versions.

What do you mean by "farther away from the OS"? In what ways do you believe that newer versions of Firefox "interact with explorer"? What do you mean by "its own Java control"?

What is Firefox downloading automatically that you do not want to download?
If you want to prevent scripts from overriding the normal right-click context menu, there is an about:config setting for that and also one or more extensions.*
Regarding updating: Firefox updates itself, Firefox updates your extensions, Firefox blocks malicious and vulnerable add-ons, this is part of its design to keep you as safe as possible on the web. There probably are ways to go into the plubing and wreck it so none of that works, but we certainly cannot recommend that. Using a version released 30 months ago, with a long list of publicly disclosed security vulnerabilities, is asking for the worst. If you cannot or will not run Firefox 39, please switch to a different, up-to-date browser.
* To always get Firefox's right-click menu, try this setting:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste event and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the dom.event.contextmenu.enabled preference to switch its value from true to false
After making this change, if you encounter a problem on a site like Google maps where you want to access the site's right-click menu but Firefox's is blocking it, press and release the Alt key to clear Firefox's menu.
